I Should Have Kissed You : For M.

I should have kissed you when we were young -
When heat flowed in our veins
And flowed between us not yet fully discovered,
Your bosom green,
Your neck a vine of roses in full bloom.

We dreamt of lovers strong as iron-
But inside my heart wondered…
pondered your softness
your curve.

Long hair had we then
And wild laughter.
We spoke of purity
And dreamt of passion.

It was then I should have stolen your heart.
I could have kissed you…
And never part.

This was written about an old friend who was becoming, well..a lesbian, when i had already know her for years. We were very close and sometimes I regret not getting closer....I miss her. This is a poem that celebrates the love of woman for woman, not necessarily lesbianism. OK?
