Pentagram Rite for Yule

Pentagram Rite for Yule

PostAuthor: TheWiseHedgewitch » Mon Oct 04, 2010 8:17 pm

By Bonnie (Bonnie) on Monday, December 15, 2008 - 03:13 pm:

Just puttering around this weekend I came up with a short mini-rite.

The intent of this rite is to balance the elements within one’s self which is good to do prior to any conjuring, or as part of any Sabbat or Esbat ritual. The scent is mint – oil, incense or drink some tea. The color is purple when you’re working just the pentagram rite, otherwise use the colors of the season. Cast circle if so inclined. Place the 5-point star prominently on the altar.

BEFORE ME IS THE SACRED SYMBOL OF LIFE.
BE IT BLESSED FOREVER AND A DAY

BEFORE ME IS THE STAR OF ISHTAR, O MOTHER.
MAY YOU BE BLESSED FOREVER AND A DAY.

BEFORE ME IS THE TRUE PATH OF WISDOM.
BE IT CONFIRMED IN ME FOREVER AND A DAY.

(top point)
THE SPIRIT ANIMATES ALL MATER.
THE SOUL WITHIN ME IGNITES.

(lower left)
THE ETHERS ARE ANCHORED IN EARTH.
EARTH IS MY FOUNDATION.

(upper right)
THE RHYTHMIC TIDES OF NATURE EB AND FLOW.
THE WATERS OF LIFE FLOW THROUGH MY VEINS.

(upper left)
AIR FILLS MY EVERY BREATH.
IT AWAKENS MY MIND.

(lower right)
FIRE EMPOWERS THE CYCLES OF REBIRTH.
IT INFLAMES MY PURPOSE FOR BEING.

(return to top point)
I AM RENEWED IN UNION WITH SPIRIT.

BY PERFECT LOVE AND PERFECT TRUST,
I LIVE IN ACCORD WITH NATURE.
BE IT SO FOREVER AND A DAY.

Bonnie- very nice. I copied the little putter (you were puttering around...and I am being a bit silly) and plan to use it as a meditation. It has a nice rhythm for it. Question: Why mint and which variety? Spear, pepper or wintergreen? I would think mint may be air, fire or spirit. Not really water or earth- but that's just me. I have been doing aromatherapy so long now it tends to do me! and I find myself thinking in terms of elementals and essential oils unconsciously. It is funny- esp when I make a comment at work and all the nicey nice conservative and somewhat ignorant nurses say "Whaa?"(Aromatherapy is an accepted nursing practice nowadays,to the point that we can obtain CEU's for it- but there is some bias against it. Some nurses just want to continue along that worn out medical establishment path instead of broadening out. A shame.)
If you come up with any other meditation-like rituals please post- I use these all the time. I like to combine my hedgewitchery with my study of Vedanta/Yoga/and Hinduism. (For years Hinduism was perhaps THE most difficult religion for me to grasp. It drove me crazy, so I decided to actually make an effort and dig in. NOW I have a Muslim friend, also a nurse with whom I work, and she and I kid around about Islam. It all makes for an interesting if confusing spiritual path!)

Hi ya Freyawyche - Why mint? Candy canes for Yule, of course. :) I use mint for cleansing, purifying and it's associated with both air and fire - air bcs it's so refreshing, and fire because it "burns".
