Rhyme

This is a nice little rhyme that ties Candlemas/Imbolc to Groundhog's Day... "If Candlemas Day be fair and bright, Winter will have another flight; If on Candlemas Day be shower and rain, Winter is gone, and will not come again." Alternately... "If the sun shines bright on Candlemas D...

Candlemas Custom

At nightfall on Candlemas Eve (February 1) an ancient tradition is observed by witches. Every candle in the covenstead glows with living fire to encourage the swift return of the sun and the spring season. The holiday has a deeper significance too, for it is the prelude to an interval of purificatio...

Re: Brigid, Keeper of the Flame

If it is a sacred ceremony to you and your intentions are clear then I don't see anything wrong with it. Have you thought of any other ways in which you could use the flag for another purpose? Or does it feel right to do it now and this way?

Re: Simple Imbolc Ritual

Everyone works in their own way. Some "go big" and have a full blown ritual, with circle cast, ceremony, you name it. I don't feel comfortable working that way and have found, for me, the simple, uncomplicated way is best. I guess that says a lot about me ;)

Re: Pagan and Wiccan Prayers for the Dying

A Wiccan Prayer for the Dying Time has passed, the Wheel has turned. It is time for me to move on. I will walk hand in hand with the Ancient Ones, and with my ancestors who came before me. Great Mother, welcome me back into your womb, I come to you and know I am blessed, for my life has been one I ...

Samhain Chant for the Dead

Magic of Samhain dreams, Spirits of mystical north, O’ guardian of earth, heed our prayers Throughout this rite, come forth. As the stars crown our brow, This song of wicca we hear, Open the gates that our loved ones may pass And our words draw them near. Magic of Samhain dreams, Spirits of mystical...

Re: Pagan and Wiccan Prayers for the Dying

Circle us, Spirit.
Keep protection near
And danger afar.

Circle us, Spirit
Keep hope within.
Keep doubt without.

Circle us, Spirit.
Keep light near
And darkness afar.

Circle us, Spirit.
Keep peace within.
Keep evil out.
